Faith and The Beloved is a ‘New-Adult Crime Thriller’ which has so many characters and different plot lines beautifully interwined into one.
On one hand, Alice Cherokil has killed her step-father and ran away, and her mother, Naithy Cherokil is in coma. On other hand, there are two brothers, Arun and Prem Rollands. Arun is killed by Police in an encounter, and Prem is sure that it’s a murder. Now he wants revenge.
These two stories are connected to underworld and it came out as a chase for diamonds.
Characters are developed thoroughly; each and every one of them, which leads to information that isn’t necessary. I personally liked Alice’s Bravery, and Naithy’s Business mind. Each scene is explained from every character’s point of view, and it would be a lot better if the timelines were mentioned properly.
More emphasis was given on Character development rather than how they are being developed, i.e. writing style is bad. Talking about bad, editing isn’t there at all.
Pace is varying, and way too many sexual scenes are added, I don’t know why. Issues like Rape, Polygamy, and many more are talked casually; yes, these things exist in reality but to neutralize it in writing, and portray all characters with this mentality isn’t acceptable.
I will give you an example, just one, there’s this guy of age around 36 saved a girl from being killed and give her shelter, and then rape that 17 year old girl and marry her and she has no issues, and most of girls re portrayed like this.
I can’t list out all things, I wish I could. But there are things which are good like the plot. The plot is intriguing; thrill element is there. If executed well, this would have been a great book. But it’s not, and hence, I don’t recommend this book.
